It Was Brilliant!

We called the prize ‘The Yung Min Yoo Experience’. Our idea was to do our bit to boost attendances by trying to attract a few ‘newbies’ to join us as Wham regulars by giving them the full VIP experience that our recent visitor from South Korea enjoyed.

L-R: Louise Preston, Jimmy Ainsworth; DaveBurgess,  John Coogan and Michael Coogan

To be in with a chance of winning, recipients of our monthly newsletter were asked to forward Yung Min Yoo’s story to three friends who weren’t Stanley fans. And the winner was? Clayton-ender, Jimmy Ainsworth; so we invited him and his three guests to join us for the game against Southend United. It was the perfect day weather-wise and according to Jimmy, it was a ‘quality’ occasion enjoyed by all.

‘Can I just thank you for last week’s experience – it was brilliant!’ Jimmy told us. ‘Getting to see the changing rooms before the game was brilliant. When we got there, most of the players were there or arriving.  Seamus Conneely chatted to us, he was really good actually – said he was happy the boys were scoring goals again.

‘We also nipped into the away changing rooms, where there were a couple of Southend lads who’d set off early to set up the kit. Dave Burgess took us around the stands, showed us the family fun day equipment, and talked to us about the transformation the ground has undertaken over the years, and the plans for the future. It was quality – shame we can’t do it every week!’
After the game -a hard-fought 1-1 draw – Jimmy and friends had a chat and a pint with Andy Holt; a great way to round off a great day.
…and with Andy
‘You’ve also inspired me to get my OASSC membership renewed again’,Jimmy said, ‘and I’ll try to come along to the Thursday night meetings and get involved a bit more.’ As Jimmy himself might say, that’s brilliant 🙂 .
