As you all will be well aware, Billy Kee recently took the brave decision to retire from professional football, at only 29, due to continued mental health problems.
We have produced a unique shirt, featuring Accrington Stanley, Burton Albion, Scunthorpe United & Torquay United on the front with the Northern Ireland colours on the back. The shirt is numbered 29 , named Kee and contains Billy’s signature as well as the Mind logo on the sleeves. All profits from the shirt sales will go to the Mind Charity.
It is short sleeved, available in a range of sizes, from 22 inch chest up to 63 inch and posted straight to your door, for just £35 each.
Billy has had an illustrious 10 year career spanning over 440 games and 137 goals for 6 different clubs. Having started at Leicester City, Billy first moved to Stanley, on loan, in 2009 and went on to make 44 appearances for the Reds scoring 9 times.
After being released by Leicester in the summer of 2010 he went on to sign a two year deal at Torquay United. He went on to make 54 appearances for The Gulls, netting 10 times for the club
In August 2011, Billy signed for Burton Albion, closer to his Leicestershire home, for a small fee to begin a 4 season stint with The Brewers. In his time at the Pirelli Stadium he donned the yellow shirt 117 times and scored 42 goals for the club.
In August of 2014, having started the season at Burton, Billy penned a two year deal at Scunthorpe United, again for a small fee. However after just 16 appearances for The Iron, with no goals, he was loaned to Mansfield Town in January 2015. He made 13 appearances for The Stags, scoring twice before returning to Scunthorpe at the end of the season. In May 2015 he was released by Scunthorpe and re-joined Accrington in the summer on an initial one year deal.
Over the course of the next 4 seasons, Billy made 198 appearances for Stanley, scoring 74 times as the club firstly went to the League 2 Play Off semi finals in 2015-16, before securing the title in 2017-18, with Billy winning the League 2 golden boot as top goal scorer. He was already a firm favourite at the Wham Stadium but his injury time winner at table topping Luton Town, which sent Stanley clear, is many fans abiding memory of a memorable season.
He also represented Northern Ireland at U19 & U21 levels as well as being included in the Senior squad.
After the announcement of his retirement in January 2020 the club retired his iconic number 29 shirt as the club bade a fond and emotional farewell to one of its favourite sons.
The Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust thought it was only fitting to produce a unique shirt, working with our friends at Chablais Sport, featuring the 4 clubs that Billy represented as well as Northern Ireland. All the profits from the shirt will be donated to the Mind Charity in support of their work in mental health.
