This year, we have been fortunate enough to be given the support of talented local artist Steve Crowther in producing our unique collection of Christmas Cards; we are also indebted to Murray Dawson at Scott Dawson Advertising.
The cards are sold in a pack of six, with envelopes; the message inside reads ‘Season’s Greetings’. They will be on sale in the Market Hall for £5 when restrictions are lifted, or can be ordered from the online Marketplace for £6.75 – £23 (depending on quantity) including packing and postage.
It was a great pleasure to paint a couple of cards for this years support of Accrington Stanley Supporters Club which has been hit hard with COVID and all games being played behind closed doors.
For nearly three years I have been one of the artists and makers based at the Haworth Art Gallery Motor House and Stables Studios, specialising in watercolours and iPad paintings mainly of local scenes and businesses. We love receiving visitors, when we aren’t locked down! And are open most days of the week.
One of the exciting things I have enjoyed lately was compiling 130 local sketches, mainly of Clayton-Le-Moors, done on the first lockdown from March to June, into a book which charts a very strange time in our social history. The sketches contain notes as they were done and retrospective jottings looking back at the motivation to sketch a particular view.
I take commissions for clients and enjoy the interaction as the work progresses.I do also like painting animals and have done quite a few pet portraits commissions for local people. I’m quite eclectic and will attempt most things and the option to produce work on the tablet really widens the possibilities.
If you would like to discuss a commission or are interested in any of my existing pieces you can always find me on Facebook where I have an art page…. ‘stevecrowtherart’
I post my work on Instagram … @stevecrowther and I also have a webpage ‘www.stevecrowtherart.com’
I would also like to take the opportunity here to thank all those who have commented on my work on the various Facebook pages on which I post my work. Your encouraging words mean the world and spur me on to keep painting and sketching this wonderful Borough of Hyndburn.
Let’s just hope that we can get a grip of this virus and get back to supporting our local club in person!
