You’ve read the story of how there is an Accrington Stanley F.C. in Freetown, Sierra Leone and you’ve seen how ‘the real’ Accrington Stanley sent spare kits to Africa for the lads to use, well, here are the lads, proudly displaying their old Reds’ kit.
The kits, kindly supplied by Naz Ali, David Burgess and all at Accrington Stanley have really put a smile on the faces of our brothers in Sierra Leone. Below is a video showing their ‘changing room’ (even the notorious Wham changing facilities were never this bad!).
There must be magic in those shirts – the lads went on to win their first game wearing them, beating Uprising F.C. one-nil at the Portuguese Town playing field (see video below). The winning goal was scored by Stanley star Foday Kamara. All eyes are now on the quarter final against tough opponents, Piketonian F.C. next Tuesday. Although this competition is six-a-side, ASFC also play 11 v 11.
