Yesterday we had our Her Game Too dedicated fixture.
We celebrated how far the campaign has come and we raised awareness. Her Game Too aims to eradicate sexism in football and encourage females to come to football games and share their opinion on football without fear of sexist abuse. Striving for a positive change.
It was fantastic for our male first team to be involved. We had some first team female players there and some of our female junior reds. At Accrington, we are always one big family and it’s known for being such welcoming place, we want to continue that and want everyone to feel comfortable coming to Stanley.
From free sanitary wear in the toilets, female assistant ref, all female playlist before the game, write ups in the programme including a poster, posters around the ground, players warming up in Her Game Too shirts, player interviews, Her Game Too speech in hospitality and interaction and photos with fans, the day was a huge success. It was brilliant chatting to supporters and how they feel about the club and the campaign. It’s nice to hear how comfortable our female fans feel at Stanley.
Thankyou for everyone at the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust, Accrington Stanley FC, Accrington Stanley Womens, Coleys bar and everyone who helped in making this day a success. Thankyou for supporting the campaign and supporting us with any ideas. Football for me is everything and the fact I can enjoy it like this, amongst many other supporters, and make a difference, makes me so proud of the club and the campaign.
