There’s always something special about the FA Cup, it seemed to go out of fashion for a few years but, despite broadcasters insisting on showing Premier League clubs instead of real football, the magic is still undeniable.
We’ve had some exciting cup matches at Stanley, the two against Huddersfield and Bournemouth in 2003 are probably amongst the most memorable, but the match against Leeds was a cracker; and, despite the result, Stanley can hold their heads high and the fans have every reason to be proud of the spirited display put on by the boys in red.

The BBC commentators found it difficult to avoid discussing the milk advert and, at times, lapsed into condescension, patronising our players as ‘youngsters’ or treating them as fans that got lucky – how many times was Rodgers being a Leeds supporter referred to?
And really, David Burgess looks nothing like Andy Holt, but that didn’t stop them focusing on him and discussing him as if he was Andy.

Here’s the video that BBC used to open their coverage of the cup tie – warning, there are some dodgy characters in it!
