Members’ Newsletter – September 2020

HELLO EVERYBODY

At last we have seen a return of football to the Wham Stadium; for a long time we could be forgiven for thinking it was never going to happen. Everyone who watched the Peterborough game on iFollow was treated to a thrilling 2-0 victory for the boys in red and it was great to see the new signings fit in so well. And, although no fans could be present, the Ultras did us proud by decorating the Clayton End with a wide range of banners.

We are repeating Jack’s famous walk with a small group of supporters walking, on Sunday
11th October, the 40 miles from Stanley Park, Liverpool to Stanley (Wham Stadium).

If you want to get involved and Stand Up & Walk then please either email chair@onstanley-on.com or ring Ken Jefferson on 07490 825242

There will also be two shorter options:
1 Deepdale to Stanley , same date but only 15 miles or so.
2 Ewood to Stanley, same date but just 6.6 miles to cover.
All walkers will be fully supported en route and transported to the various starting points and
assisted if required.

The funds raised will go to continuing the developments at the Wham Stadium with both personal sponsor forms for all walkers and a ‘Go Fund Me’ page for further sponsorships.

Our funding page link is at: GOFUNDME.COM/STANLEYTHEWALK
Your support is invaluable to our club as we continue to develop the best little club in the country.

Walkers are still wanted!
Walking from Liverpool are: Josh Adcroft, James Cheveton and Anthony Murgatroyd – room
for three more

Walking from Deepdale are: Darren Woodhead and Jim Curtis – room for four more
Walking from Ewood are: No-one yet – still room for six volunteers!

AGM
Owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the original Trust AGM scheduled for June
25th 2020 was postponed and has now been re-scheduled for Thursday 17th December 2020.

Again, owing to ongoing restrictions due to the pandemic, we are unable to advise you on
the method or location for the AGM, it may well be that we have to conduct the meeting via a
remote Zoom session but we will confirm the method / location as soon as we are able.
As part of the Trustees’ new rules of incorporation, under the Financial Conduct Authority, we
need to adopt a revised procedure for the election of our Trust Board Members.

We currently have a board of 12 Directors, which is our maximum, and all will resign just prior to the AGM date but are eligible to stand for election to the revised board which will be ratified at the December AGM.

In the short term again we are inviting members to indicate if they would wish to be considered as a candidate for election to the Trust board. We have a monthly meeting which you would be required to attend as well as a number of other activities which need fulfilling, these
include:
Finance | Retail | Travel | Media | Events | Matchday Activities

If you would be interested, please advise by Friday 2nd October, we will then circulate nomination forms and invite candidates to outline their personal statement, which will be dis-
tributed to members before the voting takes place.
