The area behind the Clayton End was notorious for the dilapidation of the buildings, perhaps most memorably the rotting portacabin containing the gents’ toilets. The construction of clean, modern facilities greatly improved the fan experience which was further enhanced by imaginative branding and sheltered places for fans to enjoy a pre-match drink. Some of this improvement was funded by the Supporters’ Trust.
